My Story

My name is Pedro Osorio, and I’ve spent my entire life immersed in the world of sport—as a coach, an athlete, and a lifelong learner... As a kid, I fell in love with tennis, basketball and soccer.  I committed myself to soccer at thirteen, developed my game at Lamo Academy, and went on to play briefly at Saint Mary’s College before pursuing a professional career. Like many athletes, my path was shaped by adversity. Injuries, during my time in the minor leagues, led me down a deeper journey—one that ignited my passion for movement, body awareness, holistic strength training, and peak performance.

Over the past two decades, I’ve coached at every level, including 10 years at the NCAA level with programs that include Saint Mary’s College, Long Beach State University, and most recently as Head Coach of Men's Soccer at San Francisco State University from 2018 to 2024.

In 2024, I experienced the sudden loss of my mother — a painful, transformative moment in my life that shifted my perspective. Her passing became the catalyst for deep personal reflection and a renewed commitment to mental, emotional, and spiritual growth. With new clarity and purpose, I stepped away from collegiate coaching to build a more intentional, flexible career, one that allows for me to spend more time with my family — and from that, The Athletic Edge was born.

In 2025, I became a certified Mental Performance Coach  to deepen my commitment to the holistic development of athletes. I’m passionate about helping individuals strengthen not just their bodies, but their minds—unlocking clarity, resilience, and purpose both on and off the field.  I value the importance to help athletes not just physically, but cognitively and emotionally. I believe peak performance is found at the intersection of body, mind, and breath.

I’m a movement enthusiast at heart, with over two decades of training experience in weightlifting,  calisthenics, functional training, yoga, breathwork, ATG, FRC and the Weck Method. I also have a trusted network of coaches and trainers to assist me on educating athletes on the foundational pillars of nutrition, mobility and injury prevention.

My commitment to cognitive training started when I was 18, after reading an article about an ambidextrous MLB pitcher. That curiosity led me to Michael Lavery’s Whole Brain Power methodology. Working directly with Michael, I learned how to develop the brain through ambidexterity training, memory work, handwriting exercises, and hand-eye coordination drills — practices that forever changed the way I approach human performance. These practices changed my perspective on how athletes train for peak performance, and I’m passionate about passing them on to the next generation.

Above all, I believe in building complete athletes—mentally self-aware and confident, physically explosive and resilient, cognitively sharp and ready for whatever challenge lies ahead.
